Wait!

"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" - Psalm 11:3.

I have often heard people interpret this scripture as meaning objects surrounding one's birth: the sponge, water, placenta, soap, bowl or bucket, etc, even people; especially at deliverance sessions. Yes, it is possible. Oh, very possible! However, receiving Christ, I became a brand new person, with a shift in everything, which includes my foundations. As a child of God, I have a brand new foundation now, laid by God Himself.

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." - 1 Corinthians 3:11.

"NO OTHER FOUNDATION"! This is the Word of God! "No other"!
Perhaps before coming to Christ, those were my foundation. But "NOW"! "Now Faith is ..."  Now, by the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1-2), I have been set free from that, and now my foundation has been relaid!
Note the plural term used; "foundations", not "foundation" as in singular! To truly understand that scripture we should start from verse one. If clearly understood, it talks of me having challenges as a result of enemies whose arrows are aimed at me. So you invite me to leave my mountain and go with you to your mountain, your church, where I would have my deliverance. But, should I leave my mountain, it would prove I do not know my God, neither do I trust in Him!!
Daniel says

"..... but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits." - Daniel 11:32b

So obviously, because I do not know Him or trust in Him, I would receive nothing from Him, for without faith.... Heb. 11:6

Moreover, Jesus said it is not the church I go to that brings deliverance!

But the understanding of my inheritance in Him!
Good understanding procures favour.
So, Christ is my foundation.

A foundation is a solid base on which a building, an idea, etc, rests. It is made with various materials: granite, iron-rods, binding wire, cement and sand.
Jesus our foundation, said
"Learn of me. I am meek and lowly of heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:29
Where you have meekness and lowliness of heart, you will find love, temperance, gentleness, and the complete fruit of the Spirit.
(Gal. 5:22-23)
The fruit is one and where you have one segment, the others are there; in various levels or quantities, but they are there. They go together. Against these there is no law; no limit.
The Christian is built on these. Hence, Jesus said "learn of me". These He taught in the Beatitudes; be in the attitude of heaven.
The absence or "destruction" (Psalm 11:3) of these renders the believer powerless; impotent spiritually. When a house has cracks, the fault is from its foundation. When a Christian's character does not reflect Christ, it is from his or her foundation.

FOUNDATION NUMBER ONE

"Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of God." - Matthew 5:3
Jesus was not talking about being poor materially, but "in spirit"; spiritual bankruptcy. The Greek word "ptochos" from which the word "poor" is translated means "chosen poverty"; a voluntary emptying of the inner being: giving up, surrendering or choosing to become dependent, not on oneself but on another - the Lord Jesus.
This foundation says "Lord, help! I can't make it on my own."It is self-renunciation, surrendering of the ego to Jesus: self-denial. It is not self-centered but Christ-centered. In Galatians 5:23, Paul identifies this as MEEKNESS, a character trait that makes one look foolish!
...... to be continued.

Coming out of Egypt, Israel encountered peoples and situations that were hostile; like Balak who hired Balaam to curse them.
Unknown to the Israelites, these men and the officials of Moab, were on the hill overlooking the great hoard in the valley and pronouncing curses at them. At seven different locations they raised altars, made sacrifices and Balaam  made the curse.
But whom God has blessed, no man can curse!! Every opening of the mouth to curse turned into blessings to the chagrin of the Moabit  King! Indeed God makes diviners mad and frustrates the token of liars!!!
All these were unknown to the Israelites!!! I wish Christians will focus on following God with undivided heart and stop prying into who is cursing or making enchantments against them! God knows HOW to deliver the righteous.
The bible says God did not allow any man to hurt them. Instead He rebuked Kings for their sake!
"He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;" (Psalm 105:14).

Evil people, like their master, do not rest. Seeing they couldn't curse Israel, Balaam advised Balak to introduce strange women into their camp as this would make God angry,  remove the protection and turn against them.
And truly, God turned against them! A plague was released; 24,000 men, outside women and children died.
To stop the plague God asked Moses to hang publicly, facing the Sun all the ring leaders who frolicked with the women of Moab and joined in the worship of Baal-peor,  that it may be a deterrent to others.
While Moses, Aaron and the leaders sat mourning in repentance, at the entry of the Tabernacle, behold an Israeli prince, Zimri, came into the camp with a Midianitish princess named Cozby.
Also seated with them was a young man called Phinehas the son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron the Priest. Like others he saw the abomination brought into the camp but couldn't keep still. Though his father was there, his grandfather was there, even his uncle, Moses was there! They knew this was the cause of the calamity yet they sat still crying, nobody moved!!
When he couldn't contain it any more, he rose, picked a spear and traced the couple to the man's tent where he killed both.
Instantly the plague stopped and God reacted: He made a covenant of peace with him, and pronounced that he and his descendants would be priests forever.God had found a servant of honour. How did he become one?

(1)  He was in the camp.
Young men are always adventurous, seeking to conquer their environment. Unlike Zimri, Phinehas stayed in the camp, not venturing away and consequently, remained in the will of God. He did not join himself to strangers.
What has Christ with Beliel or the temple of God with idols. What has light with darkness.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
Every sheep that leaves the flock and wanders off, breaks the rule and makes itself an easy target for the wolves. Christians who wander off the fold disobey God!!!
"Be separate, come out from their midst", He says!

(2)  He saw.
There is nothing as hindering as spiritual blindness!!!
Having killed the ringleaders as instructed by God, the plague did not stop! While they all sat crying, it took one young man, possibly not yet of Levitical age (30), to discern why the plague was not stopped!
Obedience to the Word of God should bring good (Isaiah 1: 19). Where and when obedience didn't bring good, the obedience is not complete.Phinehas saw what others could not see. Just as in Exodus 32, when the entire camp of Israel did not see the consequence of making the molten calf and worshipping it, the tribe of Levi saw and abstained. That was how God chose them to be His vessels and representatives in place of the first born, making them a special people of God, an Old covenant "Church of the first born sons".
Oh that our eyes may be opened that we might see through the eyes of heaven!!! What peace shall be ours!!! No wonder Paul prayed our eyes be opened!
"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints," (Ephesians 1:18).

(3) He picked the spear.
The  spear was a weapon of war, a rod that kills - the Word of God. Paul tells us to pick up the sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6) which is the Word of God, Phinehas armed himself with the spear and with it quenched the abomination.
The work of God can only be done right and well when done according to the Word of God. Doing God's work without His word is not only demonic, it is devilish and deathly.
Some works may be awesomely big and we allude it to the glory of God. But no. The sons of Levi were only a remnant compared to the multitude. Whereas they had the glory, the multitude were "naked to their shame", stripped of the glory of God. Why? They did not follow God's will and Way. They did theirs; there is a way that seemeth right unto a man....
"There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 16:25).

God has specifications, even where a tiny nail should be, was instructed Noah in the building of the Ark.
Let's not just do things, let's do them according to His specification, and we shall be SERVANTS OF HONOUR.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” - Eph 3:20 (KJV)

God can do much more than we can ever ask or think!

But why are we not experiencing it?

The power in you! God can work only to the extent of His power in you!

You and I are the limitations to God’s work in our lives.

How can we grow this power?

First we need to know what the power is.

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” - Heb 1:3 (KJV)

His Word or plan has been set in motion and things unfold accordingly. He does not need to come uttering His voice every time for things to move. No. All things are upheld by the “Word (that came) of His power.”

Joel tells us that whosoever carries out His word is powerful!

“….. for he is strong that executeth his word.” - Joel 2:11b (KJV)

The word of God we retain is His power in us!

So we should:

(1)   Digest His word for it is the source of Faith.

No amount of tongue-talking can produce faith. Yes; tongues can build Faith, but not produce it! Faith comes only by the Word!

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” - Romans 10:17 (KJV)

(2)   Pray from your heart!

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” - Jude 1:20 (KJV)

The revelation that comes from the Word should inspire you to pray not just with your lips but from the overflow of the heart!

“My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue.” - Psalms 39:3 (KJV)

Beloved, build yourself and see God do for you, beyond your wildest imaginations!

Our God is awesome!

A THING MONEY CANNOT BUY!!!

"The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute." (Proverbs 12:24).

Success in whatever you have chosen to do, does not come without a price. Nothing in life is free! Even Salvation cost God and Jesus something.

How much are you willing to pay for success?

You have to be willing and obedient to eat the fruit of the land.

"If ye are willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:" (Isaiah 1:19).

Success is expensive and if you want it, you have to pay for it!

The price to pay for success is nothing but a resolute determination. A mountainous determination to succeed is the price to pay. A strong desire to counter disgrace poverty, failure, misfortune, etc, must be put in motion day and night; in thought and in deed.

A resolute determination is a mixture of desire and expectation.

I read a story of people engaged in a week long prayer asking for rain. On the last day of the programme the Minister suddenly realized that not a single person, including himself, came with an umbrella all through the days of the programme. There was no burning desire!

It takes a desperate desire to succeed!

"He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich." (Proverbs 10:4).

Diligence means hard work. A person who works hard is a diligent person. Laziness, idleness, is not tolerated by a diligent person.

Poverty, like a vagabond, stalks everyone. It takes diligence, hard work, to keep it at bay.

A diligent person does not need "motivation" to work! Joseph was diligent in the house of Portipher; he did every available and undone work that came to his attention. He needed no external motivation to work. His motivation was from inside. A diligent person works for himself, even if employed. He works almost round the clock, consumed with the passion of the work. He places value on the work and derives satisfaction when work is done and done excellently; this fulfillment, the satisfaction that follows a work well done is what he values more than the financial reward.

May we learn to look beyond financial reward and see the worth of the inner reward; a thing money cannot buy!

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." (Proverbs 13:20).

Time is the basic wealth that God gave to man.

We spend time in exchange for money; what we call salary. We spend time for what we want to be; a thing we call education.

Time helps shape who we are and what we become. We spend time with friends. Yes, we become like them! A man is the product of what he did with his time, and the company he spends his time with.

What we become or achieve in life depends on what company we keep; the friends we keep. "Show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are."

Multitudes of people have been brought to ruin by bad company.

Some people have no plan or vision; nowhere to go, no dream or ambition. If you keep company with them, they will kill your time: the wealth you came to the world with!

If you have to get somewhere in life, don't company with fools!

HOW TO KNOW FOOLS?

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yes, seven are an abomination to him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and him that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19).

(1) a proud person: one that looks down on others.

(2) a liar: a peddler of lies: never known to tell the truth.

(3) a murderer: a person who kill either with weapons or with the tongue.

(4) an evil plotter: one whose mind constantly devises wickedness.

(5) an evil executor: one not capable of wicked imaginations but delight to hastily carry out devised wicked plans.

(6) a perverter of justice: one who knowingly stands as witness in cases he/she knows nothing about, just to pervert justice.

(7) a destroyer of friendship: someone who carry evil stories from one person to another just to destroy relationships.

God calls these people fools, and indeed anyone that keeps their company.

Stay away from them, remember:

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers." (Psalms 1:1).

End-time Hypocrisy

I am appalled, and more than that, I am fuming at the hypocrisy being exhibited. The Federal Government set up and fund the NFA, yet have no control over her. Reason: she belongs to "another Federation" - FIFA. While the Church, neither set up nor funded by the Federal Government, and belonging also to another kingdom, is gradually being brought under its control!

This is a spiritual Kingdom for crying out loud! A kingdom that human intellect cannot understand and consequently should not subject under its system. Jesus Christ is the founder, builder and Sole Administrator of His Church.

"And I say also to thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18).

It is not a democratic body but a "deocracy",  He alone sets up Leaders (Pastors).

"And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of languages." (1 Corinthians 12:28).

And alone, has the power of time; how long a leader should be at a given "Mansion" (John 14) of His house - the Church.

"And he said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." (Acts 1:7).

He alone reserves the power of judgment over how useful a Leader is, and when to remove same.

Human mind and might no matter how powerful or highly placed SHOULD NOT remove by means of secular law, a Leader set up by spiritual law; by the owner of the Church!!

This is an insult to my God and a raping of my Faith!

Are we not to draw a line between the natural and the spiritual kingdoms by giving to Ceaser what is Ceaser's and to God what is rightly His? Or has the Kingdom of our Lord now become the kingdom of this world?

Yes, I acknowledge that the Law should protect the interest of its citizens but the issue of Time or duration of Church leadership is God's exclusive reserve!

That is the reason I said my Faith, belief, is under attack! You do not compel a Spiritual Leader to go, even with the rule of Secular Law whereas Spiritual Law put them there!! The spiritual is something the natural man cannot understand; so why dabble into and interfere in something you cannot understand or have right over? No matter how good secular law may be, it has NO JURISDICTION over the spiritual! How can you terminate an appointment you did not give? Or sack someone you did not employ? He that pays the piper dictates the tune. The Lord gives and the Lord takes. He alone employs and terminates spiritual appointment; not man!!

They have no jurisdiction over the NFA, a secular body they set up, yet here they are exerting influence upon a spiritual body; a trespass!!

My grouse however,  is directed at our spiritual leaders who for years, have been winning and dining with the Government, swallowing hook, line and sinker every interference of the same into matters of the Kingdom. Certainly, the monster they created has matured and come to hunt them and everyone in this spiritual Kingdom.

The world has always wanted to rule over the Church. and make her its own.

Jesus told Pilate, "you can have no power over me."

But what should we do? We go to the scripture. The Church has been producing martyrs, however the end-time Church, like the early Church, would produce more martyrs: those not ready to compromise their faith.

"And white robes were given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow-servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." (Revelation 6:11).

Beloved, lets not deny our Lord and Kingdom just to save our life. The end-time persecution is taking a higher dimension. This is the time when "they that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits".

Our God is still alive, his grace is ever abundantly available. The early Church grew and thrived with persecution. God is set not only to grow but revive His Church if we are willing and obedient to stand firm.

We may have made a mistake, this is the second chance given us to prove our faith.

The early Church went underground to avoid interference from the secular world.

We do not go underground today because of freedom of worship, but we must not forget that the desire of the world to rule over the Church is still there. The pressure may be gruesome, God has released greater grace to carry us through the tough times.

May that grace not be in vain.

Shalom

When Men Expect You To Die.

"And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God. And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perez-uzza to this day. And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me? So David brought not the ark to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had." - 1 Chronicles 13:10-14

David led the children of Israel to bring the Ark of Covenant back to Jerusalem after God had dealt with the Philistians who captured the Ark.

Israel rejoiced to go receive the Ark. It was an elaborate praise session, a time of jubilation never before recorded in the history of the Kingdom.

The jubilation was punctuated however by God's anger upon Uzzah, whom He killed. I can imagine the players of instruments suddenly stop, singers stopped singing, dancers stopped dancing and all movements ceased. Mouths opened wide as they looked with bewilderment from the lifeless body of their kinsman, colleague and friend, to another bewildered face. Gradually, as the bewilderment turned to confusion, they turned to David with fear written all over their faces.

Sheepishly, he equally looked around at the elders present, then at the Levites, noting that all eyes were on him for direction.

His gaze went back to the Ark. It looked harmless but has proven to be deadly. Momentarily, he remembered how the Ark dealt with the Philistians, how it broke the neck of dagon, how it brought pestilence and diseases to any Philistian city it was taken, how it directed the animal it was placed upon till it entered the land of Israel, and now Uzzah. No, this must not go with him to Jerusalem. It could wipe out every life there. No; since the Ark has become a killer it should be left in the house of an insignificant man, one whose death may not so matter.

But who could such a man be? He lifted his gaze from the Ark and there was Obededom, a Levite whose house was just around the corner, off the bush path.

"Obededom".

"My lord", the man answered walking to the king. He perhaps needs some advice, he thought.

"You are a Levite, right?"  The king asked.

"Yes my lord."

"The Ark is you people's business, not mine. Take care of it." Even if it kills you, he added to himself.

Perhaps Obededom would have abandoned it too. But the king gave the command for it to taken to his house. He was speechless. Reluctantly, out of fear of the Ark, the Levites turned and wheeled the cart to the house of Obededom.

He couldn't complain, despite the look of pity and apprehension on the faces of his friends and colleagues.

His death sentence has been passed by the king.

With unsteady steps, and head bowed, he followed after his colleagues who wheeled the cart bearing the Ark. Of the others, no one looked at his direction. They looked from the corner of their eyes, avoiding his eyes. They looked at him from behind, to see him for the last time.

Why him? Obededom's mind was agoge with questions. What explanation would he give his wife? That the lot fell on him to die for the kingdom? That the king subjected him to death "by the Ark?" What offence could have warranted this? He was not the only Levite there. Why him? Tears flowed freely down his cheeks. It must be because of his poverty. Did the scripture not say the destruction of the poor is their poverty?

There are certain situations and things you cannot run away from because our King and Lord commands it. People may have been used to bring about the inconvenience and life-threatening situations, in your home, Marriage, job, business, etc. Don't complain! Don't murmur! There is a reward and the labour of the righteous shall never be in vain!

Obededom did not know that blessing was coming. Everything God permitted to come your way is for a purpose; to fulfil the good plan of God for you.

People may have their plan for and opinion of you. They can push you with counsel or command, who to marry, what to do, where to go or where to live. And when you refuse because it is your life and decision to make, they expect evil to befall you.

Something happened in a certain Assembly where my wife and I had served for years. Over one year, the Lord told it to the pastor that a family would be leaving but did not tell him the family. In good faith, we all, church members, including ourselves, prayed for the family; that God would uphold them in the faith wherever He might lead them. It turned out to be my family. The pastor was distraught that we were leaving! All the church members suddenly became hostile to us! These were people that seemed to celebrate us, suddenly becoming hostile? "Dangerous" prayers and prophecies were released against us. But glory to God, "a curse curseless" shall not come! The "brethren" looked out to see us suffer afflictions and beg for food! But God is God!! What if we did not pray for the family for over one year? And what if God had revealed the family earlier? I still shudder when i think of this!

From corners and windows, they would peep like rats though holes, into your home, job, ministry, health and business as though they genuinely care! They would laugh and make mockery like Sanballat and Tobiah against Nehemiah and others.

But their expectation shall be cut off! And rather than see you fall, they will see you rise, getting better and better, in Jesus Name! Amen!

When people force things unjustly against you, they move you to the place of blessing! God can use the devil to push you to that place, that is why you should learn to give God thanks in all things; knowing that all things "worketh together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose"!

Look at Joseph. It was his brothers that pushed him. What about Jephtah, it was his brothers. For Mordecai, it was an enemy. For Obededom, it was his king!

Nevertheless, in all it was still God working! That is why you should not hate those who push, persecute or despitefully use you! The devil will tell you to be angry at them, hate them, pray against them, curse them. But no; that is not the way of the Lord.

God allows them to push you. So that with what they push you through, He gives you a testimony, which He uses to shame them.

The Ark of Covenant stayed with the family of Obededom for a period of three months, within which time the Lord blessed him. Rather than kill him as men expected, God blessed him. When people refuse to make time and room for God out of their busy schedule, make God the possessor of all you represent and He will overwhelm you with blessings. Obededom made room for the Ark, he gave time and attention to God, and three months transformed his status.

Obviously, David must have kept a close watch to see what would befall Obededom; though he got busy with other things, his ears must have itched to hear of his death but was disappointed. Many who are watching and listening for evil concerning you shall be put to shame.

I believe this disappointed expectation was what prompted David to make further research into the Ark and Uzzah case. He was not so sure of God's presence and love anymore, but when he “perceived” ( 1Chronicles 14:2), that God was still faithful to him, he looked deeper into the case, located their mistake which prompted him to prepare a place for the Ark and confessed that non but the Levites ought to carry the Ark of God.

"And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent. Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him for ever." - 1 Chronicles 15:1-2.

Knowing that the Ark did not malfunction, but proved God to be faithful, David removed the it from Obededom’s house to the place prepared for it in the City of Jerusalem.

Obededom must have learnt a big lesson; that God would bless anyone who stands with Him, even when men expect such to die.

Remain true to Him.
